Neurodiversity Celebration Week 2023

Neurodiversity Celebration Week 2023

What is Neurodiversity Celebration Week?

Neurodiversity Celebration Week is a global effort that seeks to challenge common stereotypes and misunderstandings surrounding neurological differences. Its objective is to change perceptions and increase support for neurodivergent individuals by offering educational institutions and organisations the chance to acknowledge the numerous talents and benefits of being neurodivergent. Through this approach, it promotes more inclusive and fair cultures that embrace diversity and enable each person to thrive.

How do SRSCC support neurodivergent learners?

At SRSCC we know that as many as 1 in 3 of our learners may be neurodivergent. As a result of this, we introduced the Cognassist neurodiversity assessment and additional support strategies to ensure our learners could access tailored support and reasonable adjustments, based on an individual’s cognitive profiles and specific areas of need. We also have our very own Learning Engagement Team, who’s mission is to support the wellbeing and additional learning needs of our students.  The team work to  ensure each learner’s voice is heard and do their best to support every learner on their Apprenticeship journey.
