Why Choose the Apprenticeship Route over the CIPS standalone Route?
Our apprenticeships are specifically designed for NHS procurement and supply professionals looking to advance their careers. These programmes offer a practical approach to professional development that benefits both you and your trust.
Practical, Work-Based Learning
Apprenticeships include work-based projects that align with NHS roles — helping learners apply their skills immediately in real NHS settings. It’s not just theory; it’s career development.
Broader Skill Development
Apprenticeships include training beyond CIPS – covering soft skills like communication, teamwork, and leadership aligned to the apprenticeship standard.
More Support Throughout
Unlike the CIPS commercial route, apprentices receive ongoing support from a dedicated Progress Mentor and Tutor — helping with time management, confidence, wellbeing, and exam preparation.
Still gain CIPS qualification
You gain both the CIPS qualification and an apprenticeship certificate, recognised nationally as a marker of occupational competence.

Frequently Asked Questions
Am I eligible for an apprenticeship?
Employees who work within England and UK/EEA residents for at least three years are eligible. You’ll need your managers approval in order to enrol.
Why Choose the apprenticeship route over the standalone CIPS route?
Choosing an apprenticeship over a standalone CIPS qualification offers several key benefits. Apprenticeships are fully funded through the employer’s levy or government support, meaning there’s no cost to the learner. They also provide a structured mix of on-the-job experience and off-the-job training, allowing individuals to earn while they learn in a real procurement role. Apprentices receive ongoing support from both a qualified tutor and a dedicated mentor, helping them apply what they learn directly in the workplace. Additionally, all of the procurement and supply apprenticeship standards include the CIPS qualification within the programme, so learners can gain professional accreditation alongside practical experience, making it a more comprehensive development route.
How are apprenticeships funded?
Apprenticeships are funded either through the Apprenticeship Levy or government support. Large employers pay into the levy to cover training costs, while smaller employers contribute just 5%, with the government funding the rest. In some cases, such as hiring a 16–18-year-old, training can be fully funded. There is no cost to the apprentices.
What support will I receive?
All apprentices are supported by an experienced MCIPS or FCIPS-qualified tutor, as well as a dedicated Progress Mentor who provides one-to-one guidance throughout the programme.
Will I take exams?
Yes – if your apprenticeship includes a CIPS qualification, you’ll need to pass CIPS exams. Our tutors provide tailored support to help you succeed.
I’m an employer – how do I enrol a team member?
Just contact us to arrange a consultation. We’ll assess eligibility, confirm funding options, and support you through the enrolment process.
