Chay was recently chosen by his Progress Mentor and our Apprenticeship Manager as SRSCC’s Apprentice of the Month for April 2023 due to his outstanding commitment to the programme.

Has the support you’ve received from SRSCC helped you so far?
“SRSCC provide you with various methods of support throughout the course through Aptem, review meetings and workshops.”
Have you experience any struggles or tough moments along the way? If so, how have you overcome them?
“I was nervous around the first set of exams due to being new to the procurement world. However, SRSCC’s resources provided me with enough to make me feel comfortable.”
How has the Apprenticeship help you grow as a person and develop your professional skills?
“It has given me the opportunity to both expand my knowledge and excel in my current role. Personally, it has given me the confidence to go in to high-level negotiations knowing I have the knowledge to achieve great results.”
Have you had the opportunity to apply what you’ve learnt in real-world scenarios?
“I have applied my commercial contracting knowledge to implement a supply contract with a key supplier for an essential raw material.”
What are you enjoying most about your apprenticeship experience?
“I enjoy being able to interact with people in a similar role but in different sectors, gives your perspective.”
What advice would you give to someone contemplating whether to enroll onto an Apprenticeship?
“Do it. You will not regret it. It is a great qualification and you will have fun while doing it.”

We look forward to continuing following Chay’s journey with SRSCC as he continues through his Apprenticeship. Chay has already decided that he will takes the next step towards achieving MCIPS Status with the CIPS Level 5 Advanced Diploma, delivered by us.
SRSCC and the Apprenticeships they provide have, without a doubt, helped develop our Procurement Team who in turn have transformed the Commercial Department. SRSCC provided expert tuition and, important to ensuring personal growth, mentoring support.
The Team have increased their abilities and confidence and are now all successfully operating as professional Business Partners and members of Senior Leadership Teams in Commercial and DDaT Departments.

Prior to the Apprenticeship, the Team undertook various training courses while operating at different levels. Since the Apprenticeship program commenced the Team has become more aligned saving the Constabulary £3.6m while reducing risks and awarding many compliant contracts.
The Team also managed supplies during the Pandemic ensuring 100% delivery of PPE and requirements for agile working while installing the Oracle system, with the Apprenticeship being a key factor in enabling the Team to deliver this
